But despite efforts to understand, and coming from a queer, enlightened, politically activist, sexually liberated perspective, if he still fails to believe us when we say his experiences are not representative of an underlying hypocritical heterosexism in society ... well, it don't bode well, is all. The fact that even someone in that position is inclined to a) dismiss it as unimportant and b) trust their own experiences over the testimony of the victims is fairly good demonstration of male privelege and the effect it has on women being accused of lying, overreacting, or making it up when they try to speak up about sexism.
