btw, did you get my email about possibly borrowing a dress? I won't mind too much if the answer's no, but if it is I want to know so I can work out what I'm going to do instead.
Yes - sorry - I'm being really crap about emails at the moment.
I'm not sure. I have three medieval dresses in Cambridge at the moment, and I'm not convinced that any of them would be suitable.
I don't want to lend you the black velvet one because it was expensive and difficult to make, and it has a long train, which makes it both hard to move in and easy to spoil.
I'd be happy to lend you the yellow one, but I think it would be too big, even if we did cunning things with safety pins.
I'm not sure about the reversible one - I'm very fond of it and would be pissed off if you spilt something on it, or stretched it - like most authentic medieval clothes it's not really washable (though it's more washable than the black one.) If you wore it red side out with something long-sleeved underneath I'd probably be OK with you borrowing it, but I think it would be too small at the chest. If your breasts are around the same size as mine (which I think they are) and you don't wear a bra, it looks OK (though not authentic.) It's too small for me though, so if you're at all bigger, it probably wouldn't work.
Do you definitely want something female? My male costumes are less authentic, therefore more washable, therefore more lendable.
I've got non-historical pantomime prince type outfit, which I'd certainly be happy to lend (black knee-breeches and an unfortunately pink top - it was dark red when I bid for it on Ebay, but unfortunately the seller tried to wash it before posting it).
Or there's my Richard III black doublet (non-authentic Early Tudor-ish).
Or silver Elizabethan boy.
Out of Cambridge there's the replica of Eowyn's refugee dress - blue long-sleeved underdress, brown overdress with side lacing, and a green early Tudor thing (I'll check - that *might* be in Cambridge). The latter is a bit small too, but since you're used to wearing corsets you'd probably be OK. But they cost a lot to post, and there's not much space in my wardrobe, so I'd rather not get anything sent up.
drats, it was something along the lines of the Eowyn one that I was thinking of. Unfortunately I'm playing an Eastern courtesan, who's going to be forced into trousers at some point, but in the meantime is more than uncomfortable enough in the weird dresses she has to wear to blend in. And it's a banquet, not an adventure... I suppose she might stretch to some sort of floaty belted breeches and kneelength slit tunic, but I don't have the time or the talent.
The dress style is meant to be "Italian Renaissance", but everyone else seems to go with "vaguely Medieval". Would it be possible for me to come over on Thursday and try the turncoat on with a shirt or similar underneath it? And the green Tudor one, if it is in Cambridge? (would I need to be wearing a corset, or is it bodiced?) If it doesn't fit, don't worry, I don't want to risk stretching it - I'll work something else out. And obviously I'd be very, very careful. I'm not going to be drinking. I'd just feel far, far more comfortable, since it's my first time larping properly, if I looked good, which is why I thought it was worth asking. Sorry to be a pain :/
I've just thought of a way that I could put together a loose-trousers and slit-tunic combination. So I don't need to borrow a dress after all! What I'm looking for now is a baggy-sleeved white shirt - I seem to remember you having one that I've borrowed before? Would you be okay with lending it to me again?
