lists (mundanity, har)
Jan. 26th, 2004 12:30 pmgood things:
- today I got up at 8.30, tidied my room, went to the faculty library and wrote a rather good Latin practical criticism on Eclogues VII in under an hour.
- the combination of tea and prawn cocktail crisps
- I seem to have no appetite at the moment, and so don't feel guilty at all about indulging myself thoroughly the rare times I am hungry
- Pirates of the Caribbean, beer, and reconciliatory talks with Iain (woo, that rhymes)
- The Hamlet Game, to which I am completely addicted
- lovely letters from
beeswing and
karajanks to which I look forward to replying this afternoon - letters also to write for
yiskah and
yvesilena, who has even given me fab writing paper to write them on! Hurrah. - Johnny Depp
- the very inspiring book
robert_jones has lent me - finding a tiny pale blue satin bag to match my ballgown, a black and white stripy shirt, and a silly black minidress all for £1 each in the market
- badger badger badger badger MUSHROOM MUSHROOM!
verte and I are going to Whitby!
- I didn't get the part in Yeomen of the Guard. Poo, pish, etc.
- I'm ridiculously poor
- I have a lovely Greek Prose with which to while away the hours until 6pm - well, half of them, at any rate. (Do we like Greek Proses? Nooo, we do not.)
- It's stupidly, painfully cold.

on 2004-01-26 05:18 am (UTC)Sigh. Okay, if you really want one you can play in a web browser, then Dead By Morning (http://www.aas-ta.com/games/deadbym.html)is even better!!!!!, and it has zombies and sex and everything. (And I wrote it as a parody goddamn it so stop looking at me like that).
et viola! answers
on 2004-01-26 06:18 am (UTC)As far as lacking resources goes: here (http://www.lib.uchicago.edu/efts/Woodhouse/) is Woodhouse's English-Greek dictionary, a truly marvellous book, and here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0198604564/ref=sr_aps_books_1_2/026-1001142-7478048) is Morwood's Grammar of Classical Greek, which every person should own. You can't say I'm not helpful ;)
The link to the Hamlet game has been fixed now. I left out a " in the < p > tag, thus eliminating half my entry. Oh the joys of html.
As for downloading films, I use university broadband and kazaa, but I hear there's other even better file sharing software which doesn't install nasty spyware on your computer. Although I couldn't tell you what they are.

on 2004-01-26 06:21 am (UTC)I'm pissed about the part, but it's only to be expected considering I have zero experience. I'll be in a crap play this term and that'll make it easier to be in a better play next term. Except oh wait, I've got exams ... damnit ...
Whitby shalt rock like rockcakes. I intend to spend ludicrous amounts of money on corsetry. huzzah!

on 2004-01-26 06:31 am (UTC)I don't really have the time, energy or effort to play those things during termtime. The Hamlet one is fun because of the ironic shakespeare references and the fact I already know the story - if I was going to play a proper IF, I think I'd always feel a bit stupid because I could be spending the time writing, or at the very least roleplaying in person with real people.
No accounting for taste, innit.

I liked your stripy pink legwear though. Very fetching ;)

on 2004-01-26 09:19 am (UTC)I'm sorry if I contributed in any way to feelings of discomfort last night, by the way. It is a social failing of mine: be loud and outrageous in order to compensate for poor conversatory ability. Many apologies.

on 2004-01-26 09:43 am (UTC)Don't worry about the part. You're here for another year and a half! And you already get to play a boy :)
And I am exceptionally annoyed that I forgot today was £1-in-the-market day. Grrr. Although considering my current budget, perhaps that isn't such a bad thing...

Oooh I could really do with a horse right now!
on 2004-01-26 03:32 pm (UTC)Talk to Richard
"Oooh I could really do with a horse right now!"
kiss richard
I don't think Richard and I are close enough for that.
seduce Richard
I don't understand what you want me to do to Richard.
**** Richard
Please! There might be children reading this site!
Ask Richard about horse
"Could you get me one? I'd let you be king!"
Say to Richard "I'd rather be your queen"
"A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!"
examine Richard
King Richard III of England. He is a large man with a beard. He is crouched down, apparently in some pain, with blood on his armour.
Kill Richard
Richard produces an eight foot sword from nowhere, and promptly runs me through. Ouch.
There's a phallic symbol if ever I saw one. Eight feet would be a bit excessive in any case though.

on 2004-01-27 01:38 am (UTC)Definitely a plus point on any girl's agenda... however, have remembered that we have a Bradders for Friday and have not yet agreed when and where we're meeting! Is the Pizza Express on Jesus Lane at 7.30 still OK for you, before I send an overkeen e-mail?

on 2004-01-27 02:23 am (UTC)and friday - yep, 7.30 is fine. Shall we book? Also, overkeen is impossible, for I got a kiss in the faculty! hahar!
Re: Oooh I could really do with a horse right now!
on 2004-01-27 07:44 am (UTC)I just got back from my first meeting with the director of the Greek Play. basically instead of auditions they're having a series of 2-hour voice/acting/language/movement workshops and they'll do the casting from how people do in those. So even if you don't get in you get a load of free workshops ... and, apparently, Kathryn Hunter is taking a couple of them! I expressed inarticulate excitement (having heard so much about her from you) and the director (a large, jowly, utterly brilliant woman) said airily, "oh, yes, she comes with one's baggage these days, I find..."
I think they're getting her in because they're doing it as an all-female production - with the exception of Jocasta, who will be played by a man. There's over a month of intensive residential rehearsals over the vacations which is entirely paid for by college. Never have I wanted to be in anything more.
Re: Oooh I could really do with a horse right now!
on 2004-01-28 02:37 am (UTC)Is it too late for me to get involved?
