Dear all,

You are hereby cordially invited to the flat-warming of the Satyr Suite, also dubbed the Flat of Love and the Young Ladies' Seminary for the Taking In of Eccentric Waifs and Strays by various of its inhabitants. These are [livejournal.com profile] elise, [livejournal.com profile] libellum and [livejournal.com profile] strongtrousers, otherwise known as the Satyr (or, on occasion, Sapphic) Suities.

The flat-warming will take place on the evening and night of Saturday 20th August, from 7pm onwards. Party food (such as pizza, chips and dips, salads, cheese) will be provided. Please do bring a bottle or several, and as many friends as you can persuade to join you provided that they're fabulous.

The theme and dress code, in accordance with one of the flat's many names, is "Eccentric Waifs and Strays". This may manifest itself in various ways, and you are highly encouraged to dress in whichever manner you think best fits it. Suggested dress-codes include: Victorian/Edwardian; Street Urchin; Consumptive Heroine (it's actually the date of Emily Bronte's birth); Music Hall Trash; Lady (or, indeed, Gentleman) of Negotiable Affection; Dickens; Jack the Ripper; Ankh-Morpork; Burlesque; generic drag or other period costume.

The address can be found here or by commenting with your email address so I can send it to you.

[Poll #545782]

Edit: I forgot this and LJ won't let me edit, so could you reply in a comment if you're in Cambridge and able/willing to provide crashspace to partygoers? Many thanks.

[reposted 'cos of messed up tags]

My choices are (in rough order of preference):
  • Crash somewhere in Cambridge
  • Get the National Express coach back at the somewhat late but doable 3:15am
  • Drive & don't drink
  • Get the train back at the ridiculously early 10:50
So basically crashing would be good, but obviously as I have other choices I don't want to claim it if it's very limited in extent.

Just a side-note: if you did email the other night, I didn't get it.

I'll be there in the evening, and will try to bring the eccentric waifs and strays I'm seeing Pericles with in the afternoon with me!

And yay! Consumptive heroine. I can do that!

Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] teleute is over from the states with her husband that weekend, so I'm pretty much all out of crash space.

I will come if she wants to :)

Sounds... satyrical?

(sorry)

Anyway, I'd love to attend, but I'm not certain if this would be possible. I shall talk to people and get back to you. Of course, you may be one of the people I talk to, in which case, I'll already have gotten back to-

Fuck.

I'm not yet sure whether I can come or not and it may be something I have to decide on the day - depends how much energy I've got left after seeing Pericles standing up, what Nick wants to do, and how much money I've got (bit of a cashflow crisis...).

If I'm coming and Nick isn't then I will need crashspace, and would greatly prefer it to be chez the Suities as it won't be so far, and will thus be less stress. Though having said that, I may be seeing matters through the slightly fatigued eye of having walked 4 miles this afternoon while v. dizzy, for a GP appt which I missed by 15 minutes and thus didn't get to have. Grr.

I can bring someone from the London region if required. Coming from SW19 myself, so there's not really anywhere in London that I can't go through on the way to Cambridge.

I'm also happy to pick people up in the Cambridge area during Saturday and ferry them to the party, although I'm extremely unlikely to want to take them home afterwards.

(remember, sports car... only one passenger seat)

Can I beg somewhere soft to sleep for the night please? For I am a poorly cripple, etc etc.

A lift from/to leicester would be most preferable, else my chances of coming (funds allowing) are limited. And of course, I may require crash space. with whom/who's sofa/bed/floor/estury is not a real problem if you think they're trustable folk.

Have been saving the last 3-6 shots of rather expensive nice absinthe for just such an occasion!

I'l probably try and drop in to escape my parents for a few hours as that's the weekend I get back to Cambridge.

Hopefully I'll be able to come :-). I'll probably take the train -- it's shouldn't be too expensive. I'll need crash space unless there's a convenient very late (or staggeringly early) train to London. I'd accept an offered lift, but I really don't need one (from by the Albert Hall/Imperial College, SW7) so everyone else has priority! But if anyone happens to know the cheapest train ticket that would be useful :).

Ah; no, I haven't managed to write any of the social emails I've been meaning to this week. I don't have the internet at home yet and during the day keep allowing myself to get distracted by work and organisational emails and, um, livejournal. There are two other people I've been meaning to write to as well. Sorry, am crap - will try to get my arse in gear after I've scheduled this meeting of DOOM.

Addn: I should be able to make it, and I won't need a lift. As for bringing alcohol, what interesting spirits or liqueurs do we have available?

Also, can anyone provide crashspace, and do any of you have advice or requests for what I should wear?

I think I'm going to be in a mad assignment-marking frenzy that weekend, as I need to get them done faster than usual in order to go on holiday the following week. I really appreciate the invite, though.
