Well, it is your birthday dear!! & happy birthday by the by.

I'm drunk as a _______ after taxi-ing home just now from a dinner party thing. Simon is up on the Isle of Skye with his parents, for a week; I couldn't go because of Katie's 21st next weekend. :( It's quite strange & lonely here, I've never been alone overnight in 'our' house.

I am more than a little tipsy too on champagne and crazy talking games. As you can see, I'm drunkenly spending my time .... making icons and rambling on LJ. I'm a geek. Also feeling fat from the amount I've eaten today, but that's another matter entirely. I told myself it was my birthday and I was allowed to binge, but my self-esteem doesn't believe me.

Actually I'm remarkably good. My ankle socks have fallen down and I have mascara smeared across my face in typical drunken eye-rubbing fashion. I'm also unbelievably excited about seeing you again and meeting Simon! what shall we get up to? other than drinking wine, of course, which goes without saying :D

Simon is very excited about the fact that I've met a real person from the internet. In fact you have him to thank for meeting me at all last weekend - he paid my train ticket and convinced me to go. So yes. I wonder what you'll make of him. He's 31 so quite a bit older than us. Also he isn't a student & works fulltime - publishing-ish although no longer at an actual publishing house.

We shall drink wine (of course! but perhaps in various interesting places like bars and parks etc) & do touristy things & mooching-around type weekend things. :) I don't think that many of my friends will be here for the summer unfortunately, but if they are we could meet up with them. We could shop?

so many possibilities. I'm sure we'll find something.

Actually I don't suppose it matters what we get up to - what I want is a chance to talk to you properly. I'm much better one on one than in groups, as I mention frequently. I'm really looking forward to it though. It will be my first weekend alone after Iain goes back to Devon (he's staying for three weeks) and I'll no doubt be extremely lonely too. It'll be lovely just to get out of Leicester, and of course I very much want to see you again :)

Maybe I'll bring Bop-it EXTREME? I could teach you how to play it ...

We met at a bus-stop. That sounds much more sordid than it was - actually we were both working (this was during my gap year) in the same part of town & had to take the same bus every morning. Nobody but us ever waited at our particular bus stop. Eventually after a month or so of talking to & from work, he managed to work up the courage to ask me to a Messaiens concert that his friend was conducting. That was at the beginning of December 2000 & we've been engaged ever since Easter 2001 when he proposed on a Tilt-a-Whirl. In a bizarre twist I managed to tell Katie, a few days after I met him, that he was the man I was going to marry. Not that I'd ever expected to marry anybody. so enough rambling, there it is. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing you, too, & bring that damn game. I'm too curious about it now.

It was a lovely birthday present. I just sat and stared for about ten minutes, cursing the two hundred or so miles that lie between us, and then showed my brother, because judging by the number of Legolas posters in his room (five) he has a healthy appreciation of the male form.

I still can't quite believe he's actually mine.

and thankyou, lovely :) your zebra is now permanently on my keys, and the cushion will fit perfectly into the new black and white thing I am doing to my bedroom :D

yep. that's about it.

He has first Dan in tae-kwon-do and has been known to teach it, and to win regional competitions, and other sickening things. I don't think he's got a qualification in any other martial arts, but he does break dancing (a bit) and is interested in jujitsu and capoeira.

I'm having to be very careful not to brag here, because there's the possibility he'll read this. My exaggerated boasts have made their way back to him before; it's very embarrassing. He has a website with photos and videos of tkd and things here (http://flipnfilm.tripod.com), if you're interested, although it's more for the sake of comedy than anything else.
