iconage: Luna
Nov. 15th, 2005 10:15 pmI realised I didn't have any moon icons, and that there was something definitely wrong with this picture. Of course, this is me, so I ended up making more than I can use. All images are from Gettyone. Help yourself, comment and credit, you know the drill...

on 2005-11-16 12:51 pm (UTC)Some of them also remind me about ideas I've been meaning to email you with for ball costumes. I took a look at Masque of the Red Death, and in fact the costumes in it aren't quite as good as my twelve-year-old mind had remembered. There are an awful lot of generic medieval princesses in there, I suppose partly because the film is set in a fantasy-world, so they couldn't really do costumes that relate to specific historical people.
BUT, I've had some ideas of my own of pairs of costumes that would be appropriate, and which we could do in a sort of conceptual way - i.e. not exactly 'dressing up' as these things, but seeking to personify them through colours, textures, accessories, etc. Ideas so far are:
Night and Day
Sun and Moon (obviously very similar to above)
Winter and Summer
And, if we want to go Classical: Comedy and Tragedy
I'm sure I had one more idea than that at some point, but I can't remember what it was now! Anyway, you can see where I'm going with this.
Let me know what you think, or if you've had ideas yourself. I don't really mind which I would be in any of the above cases. My email is in here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/purple_pen/101259.html), by the way, if you don't want this to become a long and rather irrelevant thread on your icon post.

on 2005-11-16 06:38 pm (UTC)For me, the key passage is this one:
"There were much glare and glitter and piquancy and phantasm --much of what has been since seen in "Hernani." There were arabesque figures with unsuited limbs and appointments. There were delirious fancies such as the madman fashions. There was much of the beautiful, much of the wanton, much of the bizarre, something of the terrible, and not a little of that which might have excited disgust. To and fro in the seven chambers there stalked, in fact, a multitude of dreams."
Perhaps we could do seomthing with that - a multitude of dreams? To be honest when I was thinking of doing a joint costume effort I was thinking of a matching rather than dichotomous pair, but ... hrm. Interesting. Of course at least part of this is going to be dictated by our wardrobes. I suspect I'm going to end up wearing black, but I need to buy a mask and I have no objection to buying a specialist one, or extra costume pieces.
At this point it's getting into a description of what garments I currently have that might be viable, so I shall email you :)
I'll email you :)
