The last few days have been noticably colder. For some reason I always seem to be shivering when everyone else is walking about in shirtsleeves, but over the weekend I couldn't sleep until I'd heaped three blankets onto my bed, and yesterday demanded I wear my chunky winter jumper for the first time since March. In town this morning, as I waited at 8am to catch the bus to work, the combination of crisp air, golden light and long shadows was definitely autumnal.
It's therefore extremely good timing that this time tomorrow I will be a thousand miles closer to the equator, and (hopefully) in proportionally warmer climes. I am going to Italy with
verte, and I won't be back until the 10th. We are staying in the cheapest hostels we could find, travelling up through the country by train from Rome to Florence to Venice and spending three days in each.
If you'd like a postcard, email me your address and, assuming I get it before I leave tomorrow morning, I'll take it with me. Feel free to specify which city you'd rather get one from, if you have a preference.
