I have to admit that I've avoided that particular meme this year. I wouldn't expect to get any messages, and even if I did, I think I'd assume it was people either taking the mickey or trying to make me feel better without being sincere, so it seemed best ignored...

If they're trying to make you feel better, it is sincere. No-one who cares enough about you to make a gesture like that is going to be callous enough to lead you on. Your friends are generally good people: if they're saying nice things to you, chances are they mean it :)

I was expecting the anonymous valentines LJ communities to kick off this year, as they're where I've tended to leave messages in the past. They have the advantage that you can leave a note for someone whether they're expecting it or not - a meme you have to sign up to is automatically limiting, which is why I wasn't bothering with this one. But some people have signed up for them, and I want to leave them nice things. 140207 appears to be a dead-end, 14022007 is practically empty, and 021407 has annoying American dating, and very few of my friends have posted there, which means they probably wouldn't see any comments I left them anyway.
