Stef replied to my cringing email apologising for not sorting out her Glastonbury ticket refund with laughter, hugs and reassurances. I called to check that you can't transfer ownership, but she's confident we'll work something out one way or another. She still hasn't sent me her photo ID picture, but perhaps she doesn't have it. I'm barely in touch with her, so I'm just going to have to leave that one till she gets back to me.

I did finally chase up the Glastonbury people about whether our crew tickets were confirmed. Which was very interesting: I had a long and fruitful chat which I wish I'd had a few weeks ago, but apparently someone was meant to get in touch with me and the message got lost along the way. Filthy hippies.

We've been allocated to the Green Futures Field to do general field decoration as an independent team. The Green Futures Field is the campaign central: lots of charity and NGO stalls, eco issues, everything based on sustainable energy with lots of info on that. Stef apparently asked them for six tickets, so they've assumed that we have six people able to turn up and make something beautiful. I don't know if Stef had anyone in mind but we need to confirm names by Wednesday.

They want our team to arrive on Sunday 22nd June, giving us three days until the festival opens to the public on Wednesday 25th. They can provide space for us to camp together and some food, but we'll basically need to self-cater. Then we'll be going crazy on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday making the field as beautiful as we can - he wasn't very clear on the details of this but it sounds like any ideas we have on how to use the space will be valuable - there might be someone there directing us, there might not. They can provide some materials but any we can bring with us would be useful. There'll be fences and banners to paint, grottos to fill with interesting sparkle, and basically a huge four-acre space to make as pretty as we can, presumably with the help of other teams.

Everything needs to be ready to launch by Wednesday 25th, so we need our bit to be presentable by then, although we can add to it over the next few days if we fancy it.

I've emailled all this to Stef, because I'm not actually sure if she realised how much time she'd be needed for and I don't know if she has that much leave. The other question is, who's going to take the other four tickets? I'm hoping Simon will be up for one, although I haven't managed to get through to his phone to ask him yet. If any of you fancy spending the days leading up to Glastonbury making pretty things, in exchange for a free ticket and the whole festival free to enjoy yourselves, let me know!

I'm really glad this is actually happening, especially as I still haven't heard back from the Secret Garden Party and I don't want to put loads of work into Glitterbugs if we don't actually get to do it, but on the other hand we're getting increasingly pushed for time ... I'm wondering if we could actually use a lot of the Glitterbugs ideas for the Green Futures field, and then ship it all back to London and finish it up in time for the SGP three weeks later.

So it's good to get it finally confirmed. But it does leave a whole host of other questions. Especially if Stef can't actually get the time off work - I don't think she'd realised it would be a whole week away. I'm definitely up for this one even if she can't make it - a week messing around with paint in a field with a bunch of hippies sounds like EXACTLY the holiday I need. Assuming I can pull a team together, that is. Go on, you know you want to. We might even be able to hire a van and split the cost between us - Simon could possibly drive it - to make getting there easier and save us lugging art supplies and tents on the train. Plus it's my birthday on the Saturday of the festival itself, and now I know my crew job will have finished by then, I intend to PARTY. Come and help me? :)

EDIT: More than enough offers now, thankyou to everyone who's commented! I'm going to have enough trouble working out who to take up on their offer as it is ... although if any of you don't end up on our team and are still desperate to do it, feel free to organise yourselves and email Sam at gff dot org dot uk to register your interest :)

I would absolutely adore doing something like this- I finish my exams on the 18th and am really hoping to throw myself into something different. If there is a spare place, I would be well up for it.

I'm handy with paints & crafts etc- spent a whole year doing banners, posters, event planning & decoration (inside and outside) etc as VP (Women) at the student union, as well as amateur painty/decoraty stuff when friends were moving into new places. Can provide creative input as well as being meticulous in following orders. Good sense of humour and positive attitude guaranteed.

Awesome! I've just got confirmation from Stef that she's got two week's leave, so it's all go :) I would love you to take part in this, thankyou so much for offering! Are you on facebook? I want to create a fb group or mailing list to introduce everyone to each other, and Stef isn't on LJ :) Let me know which email address is best to use and I will get organised in the next few days :)

I'm not exactly artistic, but I'm good at construction, being a handyman etc, I've built every kind of staging you can imagine and I can be free for that week. If you think I'd be useful to you then count me in, but if there's others more capable then take them first.

Great to hear it worked out. x

I have to say I read about GFF and thought of you :D

Stef and I would both love to have you on board with this. Which email address do you want to be contacted on? I'll be setting up a facebook group or mailing list in the next couple of days to discuss ideas and get organised. :)

Thank you so much, i'm honoured to be a part of this. The regular magicfingers email is good. Will book that week off tomorrow. Never been to glastonbury and to go with you and stefania, well i can't imagine any better a group to be a part of. Didn't think i'd get to do any festivals this year so this is a double bonus. X

Everyone's on facebook so we'll be doing all the chatting and prep on there if that's okay. I'm really glad you're coming :) And yay for having an unexpected festival! I am so, so excited about this :)

I was thinking 'I can't really do this, I'm not sure I want to do Glasto again' and then I read the bit in the end of your entry about the van etc and I thought, well why not? So yes, I'd be interested in being a part of this, and I can drive us all down there in my van if you'd like me to. I'm also pretty certain that my housemate Amy would absolutely adore to be involved if you would like her to come along too. She's extremely creative, completely bonkers and utterly beautiful. I think you'd get on famously. ;-)

Let me know? :-)

Alix, this is an AMAZING offer. Thankyou so much. Having the van would make a whole world of difference. You and Amy both have a space on the team if you want it. Can you confirm on her behalf asap? I should have sent the list of names off yesterday but I was waiting to hear back from Stef.

If you could also let me know yours and Amy's facebook names or email addresses so I can start a group or mailing list in the next couple of days, that would be fantastic. Email me at helen at earthskyart dot com if you don't want to post real names here.

Eeee! It will be really really good to spend some quality time getting to know you better. :) Is your van still called Jolene, or was that your old one?

Edit: Oh damn damn and blast, I've just realised I miscounted. There's Simon as well - I only actually need three extra people. I'm really sorry to have got this wrong, but I'm going to have to say no to Amy - simply because she's the only person on the list I don't know personally, and because she's the only one who hasn't yet confirmed. Sorry about that. I wish I'd realised that before I commented. Sorry. :( If you like I could mention we have a seventh person and see if they could spare the ticket?

Oops, if you could see if they have a spare ticket, that would be really awesome, but it's not the end of the world if they don't. *Hugs*.

OK, I think we're on each other's FB flists, but I'm on there as Alixandrea Finlow anyway. My email addy is alix DOT corvyn AT googlemail DOT com :-)

My van is the new one, Vagabond:
It's a diesel high top and currently has a double and a single bed in it (the double folds up into a sofa). Loads of storage space too. If everyone can help to pay for fuel that would be very useful, but she's nowhere near as thirsty as the old van was. :-)

It'll be great to spend some more time with you! And what a great project to have a hand in too. :-)

P.S. - I'll be playing a gig in London that night BTW. Not sure what time you're planning on setting off - I may be able to drive straight to Pilton from London afterwards, or it might be best to get a few hours' kip before heading down. If we do this, can I crash at your place? :-)

Okay, email sent - I've asked if there's room for a seventh and will let you know when I hear back. Sorry for the confusion.

I've created a FB group for general creative/practical discussion - you should have an invite to it :)

Which night is the gig? Ideally I'd like to drive over on Sunday morning and start work on Sunday afternoon. In which case you're very welcome to crash at mine on Saturday night! If the gig's on Sunday though things might be a bit tricky but I'm sure we can work out a solution.

Great, thank-you! I've joined the FB group just now. :-)

The gig is on the Saturday night. I think we're headlining so it'll be a fairly late one. Feel free to come along if you like, maybe bring the rest of the crew too? :-) If I can get a few hours' kip at yours before heading down to Glasto that would be ideal. It should take around 6-ish hours to get there, to give you an idea of timescales (the van won't do much more than 60mph, and we'll probably need breaks).

*Hugs* this is quite exciting! ;-D

All of us going to the gig is a really nice idea actually, I'll suggest it on the group :)

[livejournal.com profile] realdoll has realised she's duoble booked herself, so - and I'm really sorry to keep messing you both around like this - if Amy would still like to come, there is now a space for her. I will need to send off an email letting them know of the name change asap in case they're printing names on crew tickets, so if you could please confirm that she can still do it and let me know her full name that would be much appreciated. I'm really sorry about the mess with numbers, but hopefully all should end well and it will be great to meet her!

I definitely think sleeping before attemping the drive would be sensible. We can chat abou the rest of the details on the group :)

Awesome! Her full name is Amy Leigh Hawes and she was definitely up for it when I last spoke to her, so we'll confirm now and I'll send her an email to let her know.

I'll see if I can get the group on the guest list for the gig. No promises but I'll try. :-)

I would so *love* to come, but it directly coincides with the D&AD New Blood show and I'm one of the organizers for our course. I would have love to have seen Crowded House as well.

I like painting things, and I should be free; I don't like camping as much (and don't have a tent), and have never been to Glasto. Erm, I think that makes me persuadable if necessary...

ARG. I so want to do this, it sounds amazing, but the dates of the festival itself (the Fri Sat Sun) cover little stepsister's tenth birthday and boyfriend's birthday. It would be stupid to do this without going to the actual festival, right?

I am good with my hands and at sticking things together. :)

Thankyou so much for the offer, but you're the eighth person to volunteer - sorry! And yeah, I agree that having to leave before the real fun started would be very very frustrating :)

Another time maybe :) Also, perhaps one of these days I will manage to talk to you about art-related things in general? I talk most on LJ about the jewellery but there's other stuff I do, and I would really appreciate general talking with like-minded people.

The main thing I remember about the art and design in the Green Fields areas last year was the distinctly phallic logo, as can be seen on the green flags in the background on this photo (http://www.fluffhouse.org.uk/photos/greenfields.jpg) :)

This is very cool by the way!

It is SO COOL I might actually die of excitement.

And that logo - what? It looks like a totem pole made of penises. !!
