oh oh oho h. right now im totally over-joyed at everything and that snow is so perfect and i cant express anything because im feeling delirious and wonderful but i just wanted to say that standing in a snow storm is the most wonderful thing any one can ever do and yes, i totally feel the numb feet thing, and how its all worth this amazing feeling.

i think im happily insane.

I don't know what it is about snow, but suddenly no-one cares about anything else. It slows down the world, silences it and makes everyone just stop and look. Perfect. Just for once, everyone gets their priorities exactly right.

boo for my cheap digital camera making them grainy.

It did look almost unreal. I took those at about 9am, and the long shadows probably give it the strange, not-quite-twilight effect. I absolutely love the quality of light on snowy mornings; brighter with all the snow reflecting the sun, but pale, somehow, and all the shadows blue. There's nothing like it.

do you think you'll ever come back to visit? I never did see you when you came up last.

It was perfect, for a while. Then it melted, and wasn't quite so stunning with all the grass churned up and slush and puddles. It snowed again today, for about an hour, just to taunt us. But it didn't settle.

Maybe the reason it's so perfect is because it never lasts?

Yes! I feel deeply stupid now because there i was all this time thinking "oh her college looks just the same as Bohofaery's" and "she takes similar pictures to Bohofaery". *bangs head repeatedly against the wall*.

oh, fantastic!! I didn't know whether you'd been accepted or not, and since you didn't mention it I was thinking maybe not. But - good for you!

John's is lovely, I have two supervisions there. I remember walking to philosophy in the blizzard, and the snowflakes pouring through the arched windows in the cloister in much the same way light would. I'm sure you won't have any trouble getting in - they wouldn't have given you an offer if they didn't think they could.
