Am back from Whitby. I shall write about it when I have more time; I now have about two weeks' worth of catching up to do, inbetween that and being ill, so expect to not see much of me over the next fortnight. In the meantime, here are some dates for your diary:

Wednesday 3rd November (i.e. tomorrow!): Downing Kenyan Formal Hall
Some of you may remember the Indonesian formal I helped organise last year for charity. This is one of them beasties. It's to raise money for the Hope Community Centre in Kenya, via the UK charity Rafiki. There will be an original Kenyan menu, an "animal masquerade" theme involving lots of dressing up (full costume is optional and masks will be available to buy for a few pounds on the door with the proceeds going to Hope), fab decor and general goodness. Guest tickets are about £9, which includes the three course menu, and of which £1 will go to the charity, but if you want a ticket you'll need to let me know by 5.30pm today. Please do come - it'll be great fun, is for charity, and will pay off all our hard work :)
edit: I apparently am unable to buy a ticket even for myself, either because they've stopped selling them earlier than they said they would, or because they've sold out - despite my being one of the organisers. I'm a bit bemused, but at least this means I'll have time to actually do some work...

Monday 22nd November: come-and-sing Messiah
I'm sure most of you have come across this phenomenon; I know I've done about three. Rehearsal is from 3pm-5pm in Downing chapel, and is entirely optional. The Messiah itself will feature talented soloists, harpsichord accompaniment, and will generally be light-hearted and un-perfectionist. The sing itself is at 7.30 (but I'm not sure, so will confirm) and there will be free wine and things afterwards.

Sunday 28th November: Downing Advent Carol Service
6pm in the college chapel, with mulled wine and mince pies afterwards. I'm singing in it and would love to see you there - we're quite good! And - carols! You really can't have too many carols.

In other news, I've left my phone in [livejournal.com profile] davefish's car so am best contacted by MSN, comment or email, and I think I've left not only my camera but my A4 refill pad full of lecture notes in the flat in Whitby. Am complete muppet.

I have your camera, but not your pad - sorry. But at least your Whitby photos aren't lost and I'll restore it to you on Saturday. Remind me!

I have illness too. The 28th sounds ace, and that's the weekend I'm going to try and get to Cambridge; Polly's just emailed me, but I can't read the thing on this laptop, so I need to go to campus and confirm. Will be very jealous of your getting to sing out of Carols for Choirs and such. The only choir that does a carol service in Leeds is the one I didn't get into. Bah.

will do. I've just rang her - she found the pad and is going to post it for me. She also found a small black top, but no corset (apparently you lost one?) - one of us must have packed it by mistake. Get Jess to have a look, and I will when I unpack...

My immune system is holding the Whitby flu at bay, but only just - the glands in my neck are like eggs. Ugh. It'd be brilliant if you were here that weekend. I'm still waiting to hear if Michael and Kate are able to come to the dinner party I was planning on the 27th ...

erm, perhaps not today - I have Ali coming over and I have a metric ton of work and unpacking to do. I'll see, though :) maybe later on? Oh, and are you coming to the formal tomorrow? because if not, you should! the machine in the plodge was broken yesterday but it might be fixed now - if not, I'll go to the kitchens to book later on, so I can get you one if you want :)

ok, i have to have dinner of some kind this evening, and apparently my presence is required at eightish tonight for some kind of birthday drinks things, so.... either later on this evening, or anytime on friday any good for you?

as to the phone, i have it with me (complete with charger and.... unlocking code! yay me!). all i have to do is delete all of my messages from it and double check i've transferred all my numbers from it onto my new one, so regardless of when i actually see you, i'll p'hole you with it tonight/tomorrow :)

Friday is rapidly becoming busier and busier, and unfortunately I'm having lunch with the chapel wardens. If you don't mind my unpacking and packing and doing laundry at you, you could come by in the afternoon (say 2ish?) and have tea (I have herbal kinds!) and a catch-up? I think taking an hour or so out of the day for coffee or something is just not really possible, with the amount of work I have to do as well :/ This week has been *crazy*.

righto. phone is packed up and ready to go into your p'hole. i'm leaving college at 7.45, so it will be in there then.
2pm on friday is good, or, failing that, i am actually going to be here for the whole weekend too. i hate nottingham, can you tell?

I'm in London this weekend - getting a train at 3.45 today (which is one of the reasons today is so tight!). If you do come over at 2, I'll only have about half an hour. Gah gah gah. I *hate* being so busy I have to flake on people. But as long as you don't mind the mess and me tidying at you, it'd be good to see you :)
